CO-FOUNDER
Rodney j. Rogers
Rodney Rogers, Co-founder and Partner of Blue Lagoon, passed away September 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. For many, Rodney was a leader, a friend, and an unwavering source of inspiration.
Rodney was born in Yonkers, NY to the late Ralph Rogers, Jr. and Violet MacJohn Rogers on September 1965. He attended Boca Raton Community High School, then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering from the University of Florida.
Rodney worked in the technology services and management consulting space for thirty-five years. He was a serial entrepreneur and technologist whose influence reached far and wide, including leading groundbreaking ventures that many of us benefited from financially. Rod was pivotal in nurturing disruptive technology startups and guiding next-generation enterprises. It was his idea to start Blue Lagoon Capital to allow friends and family to co-invest in ventures that he and his partner Kevin Reid liked.
Numerous technology companies, in addition to the ones he and Kevin started, had the advantage of his expertise shaping strategies and driving growth. But Rod’s impact was not limited to companies, he affected the lives of employees and business partners as well.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Rod’s philanthropic efforts were a testament to his character. He believed in the transformative power of education and was dedicated to creating opportunities for young professionals through the Blue Lagoon Foundation. Rod and Judith also established the Rodney & Judith Rogers Entrepreneurial Excellence Endowment at the University of Florida’s Warrington School of Business, ensuring that future generations would benefit from his legacy. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he received the University of Florida’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2020.
Rodney will be deeply missed by many and forgotten by none — not just for his brilliance and determination, but the sheer strength of his character and his ability to stay the course against the odds. The warrior lost his first and last major battle.
